Students refer to their text books and other reliable sources for reviewing their answers and estimating their marks on the basis of the answers correctly and incorrectly answered. Similarly, students who appear for the JEE Main exam, they also refer to various unofficial/official answer keys for calculating their scores. The self calculated scores are used by the students for predicting their ranks too.

Few of them being JEE Main Rank Predictor 2015 by Career Point, JEE Main Rank Predictor by Aakash and JEE Main Rank Predictor 2015 by Bansal etc. The students enter their self calculated JEE Main marks along with the class 12th marks in the Rank predictor tool and upon making a valid submission, a predicted rank is provided by the tool to the student. The ranks predicted by the rank predictor tool tends to vary from the ranks officially announced by CBSE later on.
